Описание к видео Ted Greene Teaches Single Line Soloing 01/20/97 - Part 2

In this video, Ted continues to teach the concept of single line soloing as it is applied to the song “Besame Mucho”. This is part 2 and the conclusion of this guitar lesson. Video Credits: Cesar Pineda 01/20/97

Here it is April already, no fooling! Ted continues in some serious discussion/demonstration of what makes up a better single line solo over a jazz standard. Ted refers to Wes Montgomery a few more times in this segment. Ted concludes this lesson by saying, “There is so much guitar to know, I mean, nobody had an idea when we first started! We learn a scale, we don’t realize how many beautiful things are hiding in the scale.” Amen, brother!

Here’s a brief summary for part two:
1. Playing with a triplet feel, four note groups.
2. Chord tone stacks (skipping every other note in the scale).
3. Ted mentions ‘sweeps’ [ala Frank Gamble] –“ … like turkeys gobbling in Dorian!”
4. Ted suggests to change the meter from 3/4 to 4/4 to allow for more time to solo.
5. Enter the melodic minor.
6. 7th augmented arpeggios.
7. Combing arpeggios with scale tones.
8. Experiment playing intervals (5th, 6ths, etc.).

To my subscribers: YES, there are more to come!

Ted uses many ideas from his “Single Line Soloing” books. Lesson sheets on soloing and melodic patterns to practice can all be found at https://tedgreene.com/
