Reverse Pendulum Table Tennis Serve - eBaTT | Tutorial #31

eBaTT Tutorial focusing on the reverse pendulum serve:

One of the hardest, possibly the toughest serve to perfect in table tennis is the reverse pendulum serve.

In today's tutorial, we are providing 3 tips to help you develop this service and implement it inside your game.

Three main spins - sidespin topspin, sidespin, and sidespin backspin
Focus on your grip, try to find what works for you but note that loosening your grip and where your index finger is placed can help you execute this serve.

Tip 1: The movement
Introduce an exercise serving over the table which helps with the mechanics of the stroke when implementing it as a serve. Try to impart all three spins; sidespin, backspin, topspin using this exercise. Check the angles of movement 45 degrees and 90 degrees

Tip 2: Bat/racket position
This depends on your flexibility and personal preference. you can prepare the blade above or below your forehand/wrist. Then look at the contact point (ball and rubber). look carefully where the ball shot hit for each different spin.

Tip 3: the importance of the serve
The reverse pendulum has great value in completely changing the movement in flight from the same position as another serve (traditional pendulum). This change of curve and spin can completely change the game in your favour.

You can cock your wrist in more when executing the reverse serve due to hand mechanics and the way your wrist is built.
