This lecture attempts to examine different situations when spring is used in conjunction with a string. In ordinary situations the spring is tied or fixed to a rigid body and undergoes compression and expansion both. But when spring is tied to a string and the mass attached to the spring is given certain displacement ( such that there is expansion in spring) then various possible situations emerge such that in certain situations there is full SHM while in others the SHM is broken the moment tension in spring becomes zero. The lecture uses practical demonstration to explain this concept.
