Rain on Earth: Earth’s rain is composed of water droplets that form from condensed water vapor in the atmosphere. The water cycle drives Earth’s rain. Solar energy heats bodies of water, causing evaporation. The water vapor rises, cools, and condenses into clouds. When the droplets combine and become heavy enough, they fall as rain.

Rain on Venus: Venus experiences rain composed of sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) droplets. Venus’s thick atmosphere is rich in sulfur dioxide (SO₂) and water vapor (H₂O), which react under the extreme heat and pressure to form sulfuric acid clouds. These clouds condense and form sulfuric acid rain.

Rain on Neptune: Deep in Neptune’s atmosphere, it is believed that it rains diamonds. Neptune’s atmosphere contains high levels of methane (CH₄). Under the extreme pressure and temperature conditions deep within the atmosphere, methane molecules break apart, and carbon atoms recombine to form diamonds.
