Jim Bowman: Suggestion to have discussions on topics put forth in the chat; Mr. Kelsey suggests just bringing up the topic and going forth, which Mr. Bowman proceeds to do regarding lacquer vs. Osmo, Beale buffing
system, with extended discussion.

Ernie Conover: Video of Ernie’s large threaded acorn ‘drop’ finials for a timber-framed kitchen, with extended discussion regarding tap-and-die
wood threaders. Chat suggestions for acquiring the threading tools
include Taytools.com, LeeValley.com, and GarrettWade.com,
although these may not be as comprehensive as the ones Ernie
used to make.

Jeffery Carroll: Live edge spalted hickory bowl, with no finish except polished with Yorkshire Grit abrasive pastes.

Doug Reesor: Question regarding accelerator/fixative for CA glue, with extended responses including: corn starch, baking soda, baking powder,
Parfix 3408 (Liquid Bandage) which is a no-odor CA glue, Triple E
Ultra Shine Polish followed by Shellwax yielding the equivalent of a
1200-grit sanded surface, and possibly black finely-ground black
coffee.

John Ziegler: Brining attention to Woodturning magazine issue #406, with a
comprehensive article by Kai Köthe about his three-sided tops. In
the article, Kai cites the terrific value of our coffee hours
and the fellow turners, and Kai’s use of the Dux Chuck.

Jim Bowman: Don’t try this at home, turners!!! Jim turns propellers from river birch branches, including the use of stacked banjos, with follow-up
warnings about the risks of using gloves whilst turning. Suggestions
include using fingerless gloves, obtainable at a variety of shop
types, including big box stores such as Harbor Freight as well as
specialty shops including bicycle, motorcycle, weight lifting, and
kayaking. Simply cutting the fingertips off gloves could result in
frayed fabric which could be as bad as fingered gloves.
