Signalling works at Wellington Railway Station

Описание к видео Signalling works at Wellington Railway Station

Our crew worked around the clock over Labour Weekend to get a head start on this summer’s major project in Wellington Station. We’re taking the big leap from manual to computer-based signalling, so that come the New Year trains will move in and out of the station more efficiently, especially during peak commuter times.

Over the Labour Weekend they were there through the night, cutting rails, laying new track and moving overhead wires before getting everything back together to be ready for the first train Tuesday morning.

From Boxing Day, the crew will be pushing on to finish the job. That means buses will replace trains between 26 December and 12 January 2025, while most of us are at the beach. The new signalling system is set to go live mid-January.

As the video shows, it’s an exciting, complicated job.
