An example of what appears to be a Rug Pull happened a few days ago by a gaming company called Pixelmon.

Pixelmon users purchased ‘eggs’ that held their creatures. They had to wait to see what they had actually bought for the "big reveal". At a floor price of 3ETH or nearly $10,000 each at the time of purchase, these gamers expected something incredible. What they received, instead, was shocking. The quality was so far from what they had been promised it created a storm of protests from users (on Twitter).
