As you might be able to tell from my intense reaction, this one meant a lot to me. Finding such a technical, difficult slabby/vert line on the main path that hadn't been repeated without a rope (or if it had been, the ascents have been rumored and unknown), was both a calling to my technical strengths and an exciting challenge for me as I arrived in Switzerland after an intense trad season in the UK.

Nearly 20 years since the top-roped first ascent, I wondered why more climbers hadn't strolled by and given it a shot without a rope. Was it because it's slab/vert? Was it the extreme sandbag? Was it the height? Was it the cruxy finishing move? Whatever it was, I'm so glad I ignored all common sense and found the motivation to commit to the seemingly blank face and find a sequence I was willing to do for the crux, about 30 feet off the deck.
