Acclaimed writer, director, actor, and outspoken advocate for all things Canadian Jay Baruchel discusses his love of film, television and hockey, as well as his own career — from his breakout performance in Clint Eastwood's Million Dollar Baby, to his starring roles in Goon, This Is the End and the How to Train Your Dragon franchise, to his upcoming directorial debut, Goon 2.

Jay Baruchel was born in Ottawa and raised in Montreal's Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighbourhood. After getting his start in television as a teenager, he made his Hollywood debut in Almost Famous (00) and went on to prominent supporting roles in many features, including Million Dollar Baby (04), Knocked Up (07), Tropic Thunder (08), Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (08), and David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis (12). He has starred in the Canadian features The Trotsky (09), Goon (11) and The Art of the Steal (13), all of which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival; as well as She's Out of My League (10), the How to Train Your Dragon series (10, 12), The Sorcerer's Apprentice (10), and This Is the End (13). Baruchel also co-wrote and produced Goon, and makes his feature directorial debut with the upcoming Goon: The Last of the Enforcers (16). His many television credits include Judd Apatow's hit show Undeclared (01) and the critically acclaimed Man Seeking Woman (15–).
