Today, the fourth day of the National Eucharistic Congress marks a significant occasion for India as the Holy Qurbana—the Eucharistic liturgy of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church—is celebrated at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana. Bishop Mar Joy Alappatt, the eparch of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church in the United States, presided over the ceremony, with Archbishop Borys Gudzizak and Bishop Jacob Angadiath as co-celebrants. Bishop Alappatt noted that Congress leaders included the Holy Qurbana to feature at least one Eastern Catholic liturgy during the event. This ancient rite, practiced in India by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church—descendants of Christians evangelized by St. Thomas the Apostle—has around 5 million members, over 8,000 priests, and roughly 32,000 nuns.
