This week, I’m taking a classic bebop standard, Yardbird Suite by Charlie Parker, and demonstrating a walking bass line. This song can be a great way to start to understand bebop harmony and see the ways that you can create a walking bass line within it. You can pick up some solid strategies for playing walking bass lines here and apply them as you move into more complex bebop tunes. As usual, I’m playing the line on Double Bass here, but this is a great one to play on Bass Guitar too! Try playing this version - the music is on screen in both notation and tablature!
