This event is a fireside chat with Veronika Kapustina, founder and partner at Houghton Street Ventures, on a variety of entrepreneurial finance topics such as: finance career as a path to venture capital, advising startups and the economy of favors, Linkedin as a sourcing and networking tool, angel investing and the different types of value add, disagreement between founders, Houghton Street Ventures, and hustling investors.

This lecture series focuses on the role of finance in the entrepreneurial journey. The aim is to improve our understanding of the role of early-stage financiers in the start-up and scale-up of new ventures. Discussions will touch upon several research topics like the types of constraints that limit the start and growth of new companies, and the role of specialized financiers, as well as policy, in mitigating them.

Veronika Kapustina (LinkedIn) is Partner at Houghton Street Ventures. Prior to founding Houghton Street Ventures, Veronika was an early-stage investor and advisor to technology companies on the West Coast in the US. She started her career at Morgan Stanley, working with late-stage tech corporates such as Uber, Airbnb, and Netflix. She is a proud alumna of the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE) and is currently a Practitioner in Residence at LSE’s Marshall Institute.

Juanita González-Uribe is Associate Professor in Finance at the London School of Economics. Her research focuses on entrepreneurship, private equity and innovation. Her work spans different regions including Latin America, the UK, and the USA.
