Sophy Roberts is an award-winning British journalist and a regular contributor to FT Weekend, formerly serving as editor-at-large for Condé Nast Traveller. Her first book, The Lost Pianos of Siberia, was a Sunday Times Book of the Year in 2020. Her second book, A Training School for Elephants, explores colonial ambitions through the lens of a historical journey involving elephants from Pune to Africa's Great Lakes.

Charlotte Hobson is the author of Black Earth City: A Year in the Heart of Russia, which won the Somerset Maugham Award and was shortlisted for multiple prizes. Her historical novel, The Vanishing Futurist, was also shortlisted for the Walter Scott Historical Novel Prize. Hobson has contributed short stories to various anthologies and BBC Radio 4, and she has volunteered with Ukrainian refugees since the invasion of Ukraine.
