From March 29th through April 7th, 2011, internationally acclaimed conductor and violinist Joseph Silverstein came to the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music for a week of masterclasses, lectures, and performances. Silverstein, the former concertmaster and assistant conductor of the Boston Symphony, took part in masterclasses, lectures, and two highly anticipated performances: a chamber music concert with students of the Thornton strings department and a performance with the USC Thornton Chamber Orchestra that Silverstein led from the concertmaster's chair.
