Alice in Wonderland at the V&A ¦ Love Your London ¦ Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience ¦ Curiouser

Описание к видео Alice in Wonderland at the V&A ¦ Love Your London ¦ Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience ¦ Curiouser

We visit not one but two major exhibitions on in London at the moment. Are they worth the money, and which was our favourite? First off, we go to the amazing V&A to see "Alice: Curiouser and Curiouser", an exhibition showcasing not just original artefacts and John Tenniel's drawings, but also the influence that "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking-Glass" by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carroll, had on subsequent theatre, films, fashion and the psychedelic scene of the 1960s.

We then visited the former Stapleton's Horse and Carriage Repository, London's last surviving horse repository, in Spitalfields, where we got to see "Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience" (*NOT* to be confused with "Van Gogh: Alive" which was on earlier this year at Kensington Gardens!) You step inside artworks, sit in a big room full of projections.

Both the Alice and Van Gogh exhibitions include Virtual Reality, and we rate both experiences.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS:
We would like to thank Kate and Yasmin at the V&A for their assistance in organising these trips.

Two artworks combining Alice and Van Gogh feature in our video. The one of Alice in Starry Night was found on the Pinterest page of Laura's Heaven. However, we have not been able to find the original artist though it was originally in Heike Chaney's collection. You can view the pin at: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/40243... - if you know who the artist is, and would like a proper link to your art, please let us know asap.

The other artwork was of the Cheshire Cat in a Van Gogh inspired nightscene and was by Uhomate. You can buy a canvas copy from their website https://uhomate.com/products/a009-ali...

Please support art!

Finally, our video ends with an outro from a beautiful freestyle guitar cover of Don McLean's "Vincent (Starry Starry Night)", by James Bartholomew. To watch him play the whole song up close, please go to this YouTube link:    • Don McLean - Vincent (Starry Starry N...
