Rambling w/Rhonda Montenegro Monastery experience

On a pristine mountain side above the Adriatic Sea near Bar Montenegro, I had the surprise privilege of a private tour of a beautiful Orthodox Christian monastery. Our Airbnb host was driving us around the mountains for a day of adventure and this stop was almost an after thought for him. This video is unedited and uncurated. Simply running footage of an amazing experience. It offers cultural insights as well as organic gardening knowledge. There are a few awkward moments where I’m encouraged to bite into a small apple. The assumption was that I tossed it on the ground even though it was good. What I had seen when it fell off the tree into my hand was that it had a quite large hole in the top so I knew the center was actually rotted. It was an exception though. Most of the fruit and vegetables were amazingly healthy and thriving. I am excited to share this tour that may bore some but may very much inspire and excite others. Very little of what I saw was new to me because we’ve been fortunate to work on organic farms and in food forests in several different countries.

Another awkward moment happens when the orthodox priest and the other monastery residents expect me to follow traditional protocol and kiss his hand. I gave my warmest smile but firmly refused just saying the word Covid.

There are places where I may be a bit muffled from behind my mask but generally I’m very pleased with how this turned out and how unaware and unselfconscious the gentleman was giving the tour.
