Honda Pilot - Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) Change - 2016-2020

This video shows how I replaced the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) on a 2017 Honda Pilot, which is a 2016-2020 third generation Honda Pilot.

Although the work performed in the video was specifically on a 2017 EX, yours will be very similar.

This is more difficult than changing your oil, but not that much more. The cost for doing this is high enough at the dealer you might want to save a hundred bucks to do it yourself, but take your time and do it right! You need to be sure to use a new sealing washer, use genuine Honda ATF and to ensure the car is level, and the fluid is hot when you check the level with the dipstick. Having too little or too much ATF can damage your transmission!

Supplies:
4 - 8 Quarts of Honda ATF DW-1
If you want to flush you will us all 8, if you are just replacing the fluid 4 should be enough. Make sure you check with Honda that you are getting the right fluid for your transmission.

Parts:
1 - Sealing Washer - I buy these at Honda with the fluid. Usually around $4 but worth it. If you are planning to flush, don't use the new washer until the second and final fill up.
