The International Code of Conduct for the Sustainable Use and Management of Fertilizers (Fertilizers Code) is an instrument that provides a locally adaptable framework and a voluntary set of practices to serve the different stakeholders directly or indirectly involved with fertilizers. The Code was endorsed by the 41st session of the FAO Conference in June 2019 and represents an important tool for implementing the Voluntary Guidelines for Sustainable Soil Management, with special regard to nutrient imbalances and soil pollution.
The purpose of the video is to introduce the Fertilizers Code in a short and simple manner to engage a wide public and disseminate the Code in a visual-friendly way. The video introduces the concept of the Fertilizers Code and presents the three main issues related to fertilizer use and management across world: underuse, overuse and misuse. The video also addresses the consequences, the possible solutions and highlights the participation of all stakeholders and the interactions between them.
