Hello & welcome to another watch review, brought to you by Chronostore.com. In today’s episode we’re covering the importance of winding watches when we first get them. Whether we buy a watch online or in stores, its critical to wind an automatic model properly prior to its use. The initial wind provided may only last a short while, making our watch appear defective once it stops ticking. To ensure it functions to the fullest of its capabilities, we need to wait for it to stop and then wind the watch counter-clockwise, 15-20 times, pushing the crown up with your thumb. Be mindful that excessively winding the watch may cause damages to the movement, so let's not overdo it.
Next, we push the crown back in, screwing it down to preserve the water-resistance, if needed. Unlike self-winding watches, the crown doesn’t need to be wound on quartz models. If it isn’t ticking, simply bring it by for a battery replacement, or send it in and we’ll also provide a free appraisal.
