Due to huge volume of data, an efficient plenoptic image compression method for transmission and storage is required. Hence in this process, a novel plenoptic image compression framework is proposed, which improves compression efficiency based on linear transformation and interpolation of plenoptic images. Instead of compressing a raw image directly, a reshaped and regularized plenoptic image is compressed which is feasible to block based hybrid encoding architecture.Compared with existing image compression methods, the proposed method outperforms HEVC and JPEG2000 by an average and better bit rate reduction, respectively.
