Based on Mark Diedrich's book detailing the life of the relatively unknown Minnesota Dakota chief and his efforts to stop the massive corruption by traders and politicians against the Dakota People. The theft of money owed to the Dakota and the bungled management of food, provisions and reservation land continued for ten years until it led to unimaginable starving conditions. The Young Dakota warriors demanded that Little Crow lead them in a war against the U.S. in August of 1862.
