In 1999, Vicious Kitten Records from Australia began working on a compilation CD called ‘Rock n Roll War’. This was after Vicious Kitten released a version of Nikki Sudden’s RED BROCADE album the same year.

Released in 2000, this compilation included a song by Nikki called ‘Looking At You’. At that time, Nikki sent me two video tapes of the ‘Looking At You’ film clip to help with the promotion of the album. One was a VHS copy, one was similar to BETA size. This was forwarded to ABC TV (Australia) and ‘Looking At You’ was aired on Australian music televsion program 'RAGE’ in 2000. This was boradcast across the entire country. From memory, it was only screened once.

'Looking At You' did not receive another release until 2014 when it was relerased on Nikki’s posthumous album ‘Fred Beethoven’. This album contains material recorded with Freddy Lynxx from late 97, through 1998 and into January 1999. I recall in 1997 being at Freddy Lynxx’s apartment in Paris and he played me a cassette tape of some of these recordings. I particularly remember ‘Debris’ and ‘Pin A Rose On Me’, a cover of a tune by Widowmaker with Bob Daisley.

Anyway, it’s 2023, and we live in a digital age. I have been ripping old VHS tapes and DVD’s and converting them to digital. I found the video of ‘Looking At You’ that Nikki sent me back in late 1999. I am sharing it with others to enjoy. The irony that Nikki's music has had a resurgance over the past 10 years or so, and he not being here to see the ascent of his music, is irony in the extreme. I am glad that his music has found new ears - and new appreciation.

In Nikki’s autobiography, he talks about the video for 'Looking At You', and how he was driving around Berlin in an open top convertible in the middle of winter.
