The rare and complex raga Gauri Manjari followed by Puriya Dhanashree accompanied by Pt Anindo Chatterjee. New York City 2016 at the Ruben Museum. The raag Gauri Manjari was composed by the great sarod maestro Ali Akbar Khan. To this day, the raga is performed by very few artists, and mostly those of the Maihar-Allauddin lineage. We hope it gains practitioners. Ustad Ali Akbar Khan was heard to say that he tried but could not find a satisfactory and creatively fulfilling way to add a 12th note to this intricate raga.
