The Guidonian hand medieval notation printed on palms, for people to sing

Описание к видео The Guidonian hand medieval notation printed on palms, for people to sing

Created in Darlington and using redesigned prints of the Guidonian Hand on the palms of a classical choir who sing in public spaces in Darlington, reading the notes from their hands, a technique which predates musical notation and is about teaching people to sight sing. The work was made with the Support of Arts Council England and Creative Darlington. The Music construction was by Andy Jackson, prints by Chris Folwell and the idea and direction was Anton Hecht, and the singers and musicians were local. Thanks for all the many people who turned up on the day. We had over 40 singers all with hand prints at some points. We filmed in the Square, in the Dolphin Centre and in St Cuthbert's church. Many thanks to Bonnie of the Bridge and to Stephen Wiper of Creative Darlington for their support and help. Would be great to know if anyone else has experimented with the technique or know ways of developing it.
