RWBY (pronounced "Ruby") is an American anime-styled animated web series and media franchise created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth. It is set in the fictional world of Remnant, where young people train to become warriors (called "Huntsmen" and "Huntresses") to protect their world from monsters called Grimm. The name RWBY is derived from the four main characters' forenames: Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang, as well as their associated theme colors; Red, White, Black and Yellow, and their combined team name: Team RWBY.

Blake Belladonna is one of the main protagonists of RWBY. She is a Huntress, having been trained at the now-defunct Beacon Academy. Her weapon of choice is a Variant Ballistic Chain Scythe (VBCS) named Gambol Shroud.
She first appeared in the "Black" Trailer alongside Adam Taurus, her partner and mentor in the White Fang, a Faunus terrorist group. After leaving the organization, Blake enrolled at the now-defunct Beacon Academy, where she became a member of Team RWBY alongside Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee and Yang Xiao Long.
She is also the daughter of Ghira Belladonna, the current chieftain of Menagerie and his wife Kali Belladonna.
In "The Final Word", she was dropped into the void under the Central Location by Cinder Fall, while trying to save Ruby from the same fate, later finding herself in the Ever After.

Yang Xiao Long is one of the protagonists of RWBY. She is a Huntress, having been trained at the now-defunct Beacon Academy. Her weapon of choice are a pair of Dual Ranged Shot Gauntlets, Ember Celica.
She made her first appearance in the "Yellow" Trailer, searching for clues regarding the whereabouts of her mother, Raven Branwen, who left her when she was a child. From Volume 1, Yang became a member of Team RWBY alongside Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and her younger half-sister Ruby Rose.
In "Worthy", Yang takes a hit meant for her sister from Neopolitan in the Central Location, falling into the void as a result.

The Perils of Paper Houses - Team RWBY help Jaune with saving his village of "paper-pleasers" from various catastrophes. However, one villager reveals they've long completed their purpose and wish to destroy themselves so the Tree will ascend them, which Jaune is preventing in the belief he is protecting them - all to make up for Penny's death. Suddenly, Neo's Jabberwalker clones attack and Ruby freezes up during the fight, nearly getting killed before her teammates save her. Though the group drive Neo off, the fight prevents them from noticing the paper-pleasers flooding the village to reincarnate. As her teammates comfort Jaune, a frustrated Ruby lashes out at them for failing to see her own despair; after Jaune snaps and blames her for being stranded in the Ever After, Ruby storms off alone.
