FEBCO was founded by Fred Reinicke, Sr. in 1949 after his distribution agreement with the John A. Brooks company expired. The company, named for his children Fred, Jr, Edwin, Bill, and Charlotte (the O was for Old Man, or himself), stayed in the family until 1965 when General Sprinkler, the owner of Buckner, purchased it. FEBCO's full line of automatic underground irrigation equipment stayed intact until Johns Manville decided to focus the brand exclusively on back flow preventers in the 1970's. That focus stuck, and today FEBCO brand back flow preventers are still sold under their parent company, Watts Regulator.
