Описание к видео Rolls-Royce Merlin MkXX rebuild: Episode 5

Peter Grieve, co-founder of the Historic Aero Engine group, continues the rebuild of his Merlin MkXX aero engine originally from a Halifax bomber.

Built at the Rolls-Royce engine factory at Hillington, Glasgow Scotland, it was equipped with a three-bladed Rotol constant speed propeller with wooden blades. Manufactured in early 1941, it represented the earliest version of Merlin for the Halifax bomber, rated at 1,240 hp.

The Historic Aero Engine group comprises aero engine enthusiasts from a variety of engineering and technical backgrounds, who share a common interest in researching, restoring, and preserving our aero engine heritage. Some of the engines are restored to ground running condition, and when invited, can display these at public events as a means of celebrating our heritage and inspiring the next generation of young engineers.
