An online extortion racket operating through Telegram has been exposed in RR Nagar, Bengaluru. Based on a complaint filed by a software engineer, police conducted an operation and arrested five individuals, including two women.

The accused used Telegram groups to contact young men and encouraged booking women online. Victims were then called to specific locations, where threats, physical assault, and extortion were carried out. Two separate incidents on December 1 and December 20 involved cash robbery, mobile phone snatching, and demands for additional money.

In the second incident, the victim’s screams alerted local residents, who informed the 112 emergency service. Hoysala police arrived immediately and rescued the victim. RR Nagar police arrested the accused on the spot and registered a case. Further investigation is currently underway.
