The project Essince consists of a fully functionable kit of sensors that catch data’s out of movements to generate music and visual in real-time. I’ve developed this tool myself to personalize our way to work digital matter, notably by using movements as a source of control, and to use bodies and environment as an interface.

This tool blends motion, emotions, and movement. The name "Essince" is close to "essence," signifying the fundamental nature of listening to a body move through space and time.
The formula 𝑒−𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑠−𝑒 holds a deeper meaning for this project. In this expression, the terms 𝑒 and −𝑒 cancel each other out, leaving −𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑠. This simplification symbolizes the project's aim to distill complex interactions into their purest form, much like how the essence of movement is captured and translated into sound through the tool. The sine wave is a fundamental waveform in sound synthesis, making it a perfect metaphor for the continuous and natural flow of human movement and expression.

By using Essince, individuals can explore the interplay between their bodily motions and the sounds they generate, allowing each choreography to develop its own unique sound character and rhythm.
Ultimately, sonifying movements goes beyond creating sound; it integrates individuals into the fabric of time and space. This concept is inspired by breathing exercises, where focusing on internal rhythms helps disconnect from conventional time. Essince literally makes you listen to your own body, to your own movements, to how you exist in the space through the flow of time.
