On 09/08/2025 Rodney Sebastion Harmon entered a convenience store during a likely Diabetic Episode, believing himself to be the Owner of the Business. In a state of obvious impairment, he told store staff he owned the location and then remained outside calmly enjoying a beer and milk which he brought from inside but did not purchase.

Store Staff believed him to be suffering from mental disorders and called Ocala PD for assistance but did not seek arrest. They simply wanted him off the property and to get the Mental Help he needed.

However, within seconds of arrival and without giving any clear commands, Officer Whitston began grabbing Harmon, which seemed to further confuse him. Dalton Ower arrived at about the same time and slammed Harmon onto the ground, then taunted him while pinning him to the ground.

Ower lied in the report claiming Harmon "Tossed the can of beer into the air" as in a deliberate effort to spill beer on the officers. However, Body Cam and Dashcam prove this did not occur. Ower and Whitston mocked, taunted, and laughed about Harmon throughout the encounter.

Outrageously, when EMS Arrived on scene to check Harmon's Blood Sugar and Vitals, they advised the officers to transport Harmon to the Hospital. Instead, Ower and Whitston disregarded that instruction and transported him to Jail anyway. Whitston then continued to make mocking remarks to Harmon during transport. 
As of the time of Upload, Ocala State Attorney's Office has already dropped multiple charges. Unfortunately, Harmon is still currently charged with Felony "Battery On an Officer" and trial is set for 01/08/2026. Harmon could face up to 5 years in Prison (if convicted) for this Unfair and Unnecessary Charge.
