Gary Lucas Plays "The Golem" - A five minute clip of the 1920 silent film classic "The Golem" (d. Paul Wegener and Carl Boese) with live solo guitar soundtrack by Gary Lucas, performed live at the Wintergarden Atrium in Manhattan in 1998 at a series organized by John Schaefer for his "New Sounds" program...."The Thinking Man's Guitar Hero" (The New Yorker) debuted his live score, co-composed with his childhood friend Walter Horn, in 1989 at the Museum of the Moving Image on a commission from the Brooklyn Academy of Music Next Wave Festival in a duo format of guitar and keyboards. Their score can be heard on Gary's first solo album "Skeleton at the Feast" (available on iTunes). Since then Lucas has toured the world performing with the film in the solo format with high profile performances at Royal Festival Hall in London; the Venice Biennale; opening the New York Jewish Film Festival at Lincoln Center; Tel Aviv's Next Festival; Krakow's Jewish Heritage Festival; closing Sao Paulo Brazil's SP Terror Festival; and of course in Prague, home of "The Golem".
