The Curse of Taira no Masakado is a legend well known in Japan and often taken with great seriousness. Taira no Masakado was a samurai warlord who was killed in 940 AD and whose rage and involvement in Shinto occult magic transformed him into a vengeful demigod. Masakado's ghost and decapitated head have been associated with paranormal phenomena and a deadly curse on Tokyo for over 1000 years.
