This Tiffany Classic was built by Classic Motor Carriages in Florida. The cheapest models started at around $33,000, A lot of money in 1984. Part of that cost was the 1984 Mercury Cougar which was the foundation of this Neoclassic Automobile. (classic car on a modern chassis)
This breed of neoclassic is rumored to have started with The Excalibur of 1963. That was a car styled after the 1928 Mercedes-Benz SSK on a (back then modern) Studebaker Lark Chassis by Brooks Stevens. Excaliber produced neoclassics in Milwaukee, Wisconsin till the mid-1980s. The famous American comedian Phyllis Diller owned four of the Excalibur automobiles.
These Tiffany Classics of the 1980s Feature a Fuel Injected Ford V8 and Overdrive automatic transmission. The Tiffany Classic is also more rare than the Excaliber, because only about 500 were sold before the company Classic Motor Carriages went under. While over 3500 Excalibers were produced.
