Goldberg Variation 16: Ouverture by Johann Sebastian Bach

Описание к видео Goldberg Variation 16: Ouverture by Johann Sebastian Bach

Bach starts the second half of the Goldberg Variations with this Ouverture. In grandiose French Baroque style, the first half is characterized by duple meter, grandiose chords, and ornaments, while the second half switches to triple meter and a light, quick dance feel.

The composer's choice to give us an opening movement halfway through the variation set influenced my decision to record in non-consecutive order.
