Joe Biden vows to withhold weapons from Israel if it attacks Rafah

US President Joe Biden has vowed he will withhold weapons from Israel if it continues its assault on Hamas-controlled Rafah.

The President announced his decision during an interview with CNN reporter Erin Burnett on Wednesday.

“I made it clear that if they go into Rafah – they haven’t gone in Rafah yet – if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities – that deal with that problem,” he said.

The 81-year-old’s message comes after millions of relocated Gazans moved to, or close to, Rafah after months of fighting across the region.

Biden’s threat to not arm Israel comes only a day after he spoke at the Holocaust Remembrance Day on Tuesday.

During his Tuesday speech, the 46th president labelled the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel “despicable”.
