MRI of the Meniscus

Описание к видео MRI of the Meniscus

The medial and lateral meniscus are important structures that have a vital role in the biomechanical function of the knee. They act as shock absorbers which provide protection to the cartilage of the femur and tibia as well as a stabilizing function to the knee. Injuries to the meniscus are common. The best study to evaluate the menisci is a MRI scan. Understanding the normal appearance of the menisci on MRI is critical during the evaluation of the knee for injury.

In this video we will review how a MRI uses cross sectional imaging and, by understanding this concept, can learn how to view the menisci of the knee on a MRI scan.

We will go over coronal, sagittal, and axial imaging.
