In this video, I share my amazing experience of visiting Byblos Castle, a Crusader castle in Byblos, Lebanon. Byblos is one of the oldest Phoenician cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has been continuously inhabited since Neolithic times and has witnessed the rise and fall of many civilizations. Byblos Castle was built by the Crusaders in the 12th century from indigenous limestone and the remains of Roman structures. It belonged to the Genoese Embriaco family, who were the Lords of Gibelet, the medieval name of Byblos. The castle is surrounded by a moat and has a central donjon, a Roman road, Byzantine churches, and a museum that displays the archaeological finds from the site. The most famous of these is the sarcophagus of Ahiram, which bears the oldest Phoenician inscription and the origin of our contemporary alphabet. Byblos Castle is a fascinating place to explore the history and culture of the Mediterranean region.

في هذا الفيديو، أشارككم تجربتي الرائعة في زيارة قلعة جبيل، قلعة صليبية في جبيل، لبنان. جبيل هي واحدة من أقدم المدن الفينيقية وموقع تراث عالمي لليونسكو. لقد استمرت في الاستيطان منذ العصر الحجري الحديث وشهدت صعود وسقوط العديد من الحضارات. بنيت قلعة جبيل من قبل الصليبيين في القرن الثاني عشر من الحجر الجيري المحلي وبقايا الهياكل الرومانية. كانت تنتمي إلى عائلة إمبرياكو الجنوية، الذين كانوا أسياد جبيلة، الاسم القديم لجبيل. تحيط بالقلعة خندق وتحتوي على دونجون مركزي، طريق روماني، كنائس بيزنطية، ومتحف يعرض الآثار الأثرية من الموقع. أشهر هذه هو تابوت أحيرام، الذي يحمل أقدم نقش فينيقي وأصل أبجديتنا المعاصرة.
