1972 CZ400 "Factory Edition" Test Ride!

Quick spin on a 1972 CZ400 at Grear MX (thanks Henry Gref!) Henry is one of the most knowledgable CZ experts in the US and will soon be celebrating his 80th birthday and still actively building and racing CZ motorcycles! Henry also rides and races a '21 CRF450R!

This CZ400 was built up by Henry and is like a full on works bike with Ohlins rear shocks, modified forks, round slide Mikuni carb, custom expansion chamber, special Czech made electronic ignition, special billet triple clamps. The metal plate dry clutch has been hand worked along with the transmission so the clutch pull is light and the shifting smooth. The power is easy to control and strong (for a 1972 engine). Seat foam is thick and firm makes a nice transition to the slim fuel tank (much better than the coffin fuel tank on my '74 CZ250). The suspension was impressive and felt very rideable. It was very easy to jump on this almost 50 year old motocross bike and feel comfortable! I would have loved to spin a few laps on the Grear MX track but Henry has a vintage national championship race in a few weeks so I was lucky to just take it for a quick spin in the field. Thanks again to my good buddy Henry Gref for the test ride!
