Since her founding in 1924, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (NPUST) has evolved from a small, agricultural institute, progressing through all of the hardworking successive presidents, teachers, students and staffs, to become a university that is nationally and internationally recognized for its gorgeous campus located at the piedmont of lofty Mount Da-Wu.

Reputation cannot be achieved based on a long history. Yet, history can be gained by civilization.

Tender grass pastures and fruit-laden gardens indicate an apparent bumper harvest for the year underway. Bright illumination on campus all night represents the devotion of diligent faculty and hard-working students. The rosy dawn of the Lover's Mound is as exceptionally beautiful as the sunset scenery. Every sunrise over the Northern Mountain Da-Wu is the symbol of life and growth in nature. These are the favorable impressions of NPUST on people.

NPUST is located in the south of the nation and owns the largest and the most beautiful campus in the country. NPUST has been developed from the "Agricultural Extension School" to the "University of Science and Technology"; from the former urban Pingtung campus, small and filled with humanism, to the new Lao-Pi campus, boundless and filled with green. A quiet and elegant environment, well organized campus and buildings, and lovely scenery are the accumulation of the quintessential intelligence from successive generations of this past century. We are grateful for our predecessors' painstaking for today's admirable accomplishment. "As the ocean can accommodate the water from hundreds of streams to its tide, a great one should be magnanimous to others." With such a laudable tolerant spirit and erudite vision, NPUST has established a solid humanitarian foundation for marching toward becoming a centenary university, for making innovative efforts, and for rejuvenating herself forever. Under the shield of the Mount Da-Wu, NPUST has created a brilliant history.

本校自1924年創校迄今，歷經多次改制及校園搬遷等大事，在歷任校長及師生同仁胼手胝足的耕耘下，建構了這所座落在巍巍大武山麓的美麗校園。

綠草如茵的牧場、結實纍纍的果園，象徵著一整年的豐收；徹夜不滅的燈火，代表的是辛勤研究的教師和努力不懈的莘莘學子；漫天紅霞照映的情人坡，是難得的日落美景；每個北大武山的日出，則是生生不息的象徵。這，就是屏東科技大學給人的初步印象!

本校雖地處國境之南，卻擁有全國最大最美的校園，從「農業補習學校」到「科技大學」；從小而瀰漫人文氣息的舊校區，到一望無際充滿綠意的老埤新校區，幽雅的環境和規劃完善的校園、校舍，所見的一景一物，皆是累積近百年來代代薪傳的智慧結晶，感念前人的蓽路藍縷，才有今日這般可貴的光景。「海納百川，有容乃大」，這樣的超凡氣度和博大胸懷，鍛造了邁向百年學府深厚的人文底蘊，根植傳統力求創新，使之歷久而彌新，在大武山的庇護下，創造輝煌的歷史。
