Описание к видео The Beethoven Project 1/4 | Documentary with Paavo Järvi & The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen

“The Beethoven Project” is a four-part music documentary which follows the musicians of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen and their artistic director and conductor Paavo Järvi as they are preparing to play all nine Beethoven symphonies in just four days at the Beethovenfest in Bonn. The series gives an insight into the musicians' enthusiasm for music – in rehearsal, in concert and behind the scenes.

Part 1 of “The Beethoven Project” offers viewers a look at the rehearsal of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd symphony and explains the intricacies of each of these works. The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen is introduced: a former youth orchestra turned ensemble of international standing, in which the musicians are not just members of the orchestra but also its shareholders. This gives the musicians a high degree of freedom and flexibility but is also associated with an increased level of risk.

A particular emphasis is put on Beethoven’s 3rd symphony, which Paavo Järvi calls “the first truly revolutionary” symphony.
