Lakhta Center Complex Architectural Concept implies the construction of a tower 462m tall and a variable-storeyed multifunctional building. Area-wise this facility leaves the tower behind.

The Multifunctional Building comprises the North and South Blocks integrated with an atrium, a spacious concourse with a glass roof. Shape-wise the building looks like a boomerang.

The height of the building with an atrium varies between 22m and 85m. The structural design of the building implies the construction of a cantilever with a 25m outreach.

The construction of large-span vestibules without any interim columns has become possible due to the use of 36m frames. The complicated shape of the building requires nontrivial structural design in the underground part as well. Both buildings have stiffening cores located in the uppermost locations where the main loads are concentrated.

Piles in the foundation are installed at a variable spacing. Piles 1,18m in diameter installed at a 3m spacing are used for high load parts under the cores of the buildings whereas for low load parts of the foundation piles are installed at a wider 9m spacing and these are less than a meter in diameter.

The total quantity of piles under the Multifunctional Building is 848.
The base of the foundation is levelled and waterproofed protecting the slab raft foundation from water. 2m reinforcement cage is installed.
In total the foundation slab of the Multifunctional Building is 44,000 cu.m concrete.
