Latest Update: Tata’s upcoming micro-SUV, the HBX, has been spied with an automatic transmission.Tata HBX Launch: It is expected to be launched by mid-2021.Tata HBX Price: The HBX is likely to be priced from Rs 5 lakh onwards (ex-showroom).Tata HBX Powertrain: Tata is expected to provide it with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine from the Altroz. This unit is likely to produce 86PS/113Nm and come mated to either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.Tata HBX Features: The HBX could feature a 7-inch touchscreen system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and auto AC, among others.Tata HBX Rivals: The HBX will rival the Mahindra KUV100 NXT, Maruti Ignis, and the upcoming Hyundai micro-SUV. Owing to its price, it will also go up against select variants of the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.A production-spec test mule of the HBX has been spotted testing in India ahead of its slated launch in FY 2021. Despite the heavy camoflauge, there were similarities to the concept like its flared wheel arches and boxy proportions and SUV-esque upright stance. Other highlights include 8-spoke alloy wheels wearing what seems like 15-inch rubber and the rear end featuring a high-mounted brake lamp and rear wiper.It is likely to sport a similar cabin to the concept with features like a floating infotainment system, Harman sound system and a part-digital instrument console expected.The SUV is likely to be powered by the Altroz' BS6 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine which makes 86PS and 113Nm of torque.Transmission options could include a 5-speed manual and an AMT. The HBX will likely slot under the Nexon in Tata's India lineup. It is likely to be priced at upwards of Rs 5 lakh when launched, and will rival the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100.
