After 20+ years of research and development, we can finally treat TB infection in as little as one month and most forms of drug-sensitive and drug-resistant TB in four and six months.

These regimens are shorter, more potent, safer, and WHO recommended, yet virtually no one has access to them, a human rights issue that a new civil society-led campaign - the 1/4/6x24 campaign – hopes to address.

At the same time, several phase III treatment shortening trials have recently or are soon poised to present results, with the potential to further transform the TB treatment landscape. This session will review the existing short-course regimens (the one-month and once-weekly regimens for TB prevention, and the 4-month and six-month regimens for drug-sensitive and drug-resistant TB) and results from trials of further short-course regimens to come.
