India’s defence sector mutual funds are on fire! Returns over the past month are clocking in between 13.67% and a stunning 18.75%, thanks to rising investor interest post Operation Sindoor and a policy push for domestic defence manufacturing.
On average, these funds delivered 17.7% returns, far outpacing the broader markets, which remained largely flat. Leading the pack—Groww Nifty India Defence ETF and its Fund of Funds, with returns above 18%, followed closely by Aditya Birla and Motilal Oswal’s defence funds. Even HDFC Defence Fund performed solidly at 13.67%.
The Nifty India Defence Index surged 5.5% on Friday alone, hitting 8,309 points, while the Nifty 50 slipped slightly by 0.17%. In the past six days, this defence index has jumped a massive 18%, against a modest 3% gain in the Nifty benchmark.
Top gainers? Cochin Shipyard, HAL, BDL, Mazagon Dock, and Zen Technologies, with stock surges between 3% and 12%. With government focus and investor confidence both rising, the defence sector is clearly in battle-ready mode—on the markets!
