NYU Washington, DC and the John Brademas Center of New York University co-hosted One World Suite plus the music of legendary saxophonist Tom Scott and Combo Nuvo, which includes bassist Mike Richmond, guitarist Brad Shepik and oboist Mary Gatchell.

One World Suite is Combo Nuvo’s musical statement on climate change, offering up an encouraging step in the right direction.

Combating climate change cannot be left to politicians and business practitioners alone. Artists too can offer musical perspectives that influence our morality, and encourage legislators to move swiftly in finding positive solutions to this crisis. As we celebrate this growing movement through music, we also invite you to offer opening remarks to the evening.

One World Suite features NYU Steinhardt Jazz faculty Dave Schroeder, woodwinds, Rich Shemaria, composer and conductor, and John Hadfield, world percussion.

Combo Nuvo recently performed One World Suite in Washington Square Park for the United Nation’s International Day of Peace. In addition to performing the suite, an additional composition was added called The Oceans that included 500 harmonica players from the audience. The concept of inviting the audience to participate in the last tune adds greatly to in the inclusiveness of all participants and the idea that we all have a voice that can unify when we work together.

Prior to the concert, Dave Schroeder hosted a harmonica workshop and provided those in attendance with free harmonicas to use later on for the audience participation portion of the event.
