The Multilateral Dialogue of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation in Vienna, together with Atomic Reporters, invites you to an online launch of a study programme and essay competition open to young participants, up to the age of 35, on the legacy of splitting the atom. This kick-off lecture will be followed by six online seminars featuring prominent speakers, to be held between October 2021 and May 2022, culminating in June 2022 in a sponsored four-day dialogue programme in Vienna. Selection of participants for the programme and Vienna visits will be based on an essay competition, with essays due on 31 August 2021. Speakers:
Angela Kane, was United Nations High Representative for UN Disarmament and non-proliferation 2012 – 2015 after a long and distinguished career in the UN. She teaches at Sciences Po in Paris, and is a senior fellow at the Vienna Centre for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation.

Francesca Giovannini, is the Executive Director of the Project on Managing the Atom at the Harvard Kennedy School's Belfer Center for Science & International Affairs, a non-residential fellow at the Centre for International Security and Cooperation at Stanford University, and was Strategy and Policy Officer to the Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), based in Vienna.

Patrick Illinger, is an award winning journalist and a senior editor at the Süddeutsche Zeitung, one of Germany’s largest and best known daily newspapers. He is a scientist and studied physics. He was formerly science editor of the newspaper.

Sebastian Brixey-Williams, is Co-Director of the UK-based British American Security Information Council (BASIC), an independent think tank promoting dialogue to advance global security. He is a nuclear weapons expert and mediator, with expertise in disarmament politics, risk reduction, emerging technologies, international law, and UK nuclear weapons policy and jointly leads a programme on ‘Nuclear Responsibilities’ at the University of Birmingham.
