Indian coast guard chopper conducts medical evacuation at sea, on Sunday

Info received on Sunday 4:30am about captain of merchant ship MT ELIM needing emergency medical attention

Captain was a 50-yr old South koren national, Yi Myong Bok

Vessel was about 109 nautical miles south west of Goa

ICG instructed the merchant ship to proceed at full speed towards Goa

ICG also tasked a vessel to maintain contact with the ship and check on the medical condition of the captain

Coast guard chopper leaves from Goa at 11am, braving gusty monsoon winds

Chopper reaches ship at 11:50am and hovers above while diver is lowered to rescue the captain

Captain of the ship was airlifted by 12:05 and flown to SRMC Hospital, vasco, goa and his condition is stable
