Variable ND Filter For Landscape Photography

Can you use a variable ND filter for landscape photography? As k&F Concept have kindly sent me their new Nano series variable ND to try out I thought I would look at the advantages of variable ND filters and the disadvantages of variable ND filters for landscape photography.
