Designing and implementing APIs becomes increasingly important in the software world. After all, we want software to be modularized into easily reusable components, and APIs are the way how to do this in a flexible and scalable way. This means that increasingly, software architects and developers have to understand how to design and implement APIs.
In this video, API expert Mike Amundsen talks about his new "RESTful Web API Patterns & Practices Cookbook", published by O'Reilly in October 2022. The goal of this book is to enable software designers, architects, developers, and maintainers to build service interfaces (APIs) that take advantage of the strengths of the Web while lowering the costs and risks of creating reliable high-level services that hold dependencies on other APIs and services reachable only over the network.
