It's Day 2 of Pip watch, day 36 since the first of two eggs was laid on the Trio Bald Eagles' nest. All 3 eagles continue to contribute to incubating their two eggs. This video begins at 5:59 a.m. and Starr is sleeping. She vocalizes with eagles off the nest and flies off at 6:52. Valor 2 arrives immediately demonstrating urgency in his landing. He looks like he's sliding into third base. Eagles can be heard chatting off the nest. Valor I comes in for a visit. He stands a bit and then flies off. Valor 2 experiences a home invasion robbery Grand Theft Fluff by a chickadee (look for the green arrow). Valor 2's look is priceless as he spot the culprit. He startles to a chickadee and mantles about seven minutes later. The sounds of birds including chickadees and geese fill the Refuge. Valor 2 has been on the nest for around an hour and fifteen minutes when he starts looking around and then he flies off Two eagles can be seen flying behind the nest on the left upper corner of the screen heading towards the right (look for the green arrow). Eagles are vocalizing off the nest. Valor 2 returns after about a minute, vocalizes and then settles back onto the eggs. Valor I arrives with a foot full of fluff. He still has the spot on his tail feathers. He stands beside his buddy and the two track birds flying behind the nest (green arrow). Geese and what sounds like a horn from the lock and dam can be heard as the Valors vocalize off and on. Valor I flies off still grasping the fluff he flew in with. Perhaps he decided to return it for another color more suitable to the nest decor? Valor I returns with a stick. He steps on Valor 2's tail causing Valor 2 to jump up flapping his wings. Valor 2 voices his displeasure and leaves Valor I to care for the eggs. Valor 2 comes in with a wad of fluff and stands for a bit before doing maintenance on the side rails. He moves sticks including the odd stick that looks like it has a root attached. He appears to be eating something on the side of the nest where he can only be partially seen from the camera. Bright eyed Valor I chirps that he isn't done with his shift. Valor 2 paws Valor I once and then leans into him. Valor I gets up, refines Valor 2's stick works on the railing and leaves Valor 2 to brood. Valor 2 pulls at the wad of fluff that he just brought in. Starr comes in and surveys Valor 2's fluff. She leans over Valor 2 and gives him a nibble. He looks like he just saw another ferocious chickadee. Starr towers over him, giving him nibbles and even paws him once but the recoiling Valor 2 holds his ground. Starr is watching something off the nest and seems distracted before flying off leaving Valor 2 still on the eggs. Valor 2 seems to be smiling as he enjoys his good fortune. Valor 2 does a huge crop drop.

The Trio Bald Eagles' nest has a female (Starr) and two males (Valor I and Valor 2). At the time of this video the Trio has 2 eggs laid on Feb 10th and Feb. 13, 2018. This nest is known as a "cooperative nest". All three adults are full partners in the nest and the female mates with both males. The previous female, Hope, went MIA after the nest was attacked on March 24, 2017 by two eagles. The males successfully fledged two eaglets last season. The new female, Starr, was seen around the two males in Sept of 2017. She appears to be young and it is believed this is her first season of reproductivity. The Trio are now bonded to the nest and each other. The nest is located in the backwaters of the Mississippi River near Fulton, IL.
